Solace Veranda in Mumbai is a thoughtfully designed rooftop extension by Oreira Studio, transforming an underutilized terrace into a layered and tranquil outdoor living environment. The design reimagines the terrace as a seamless transition between interior comfort and open-sky relaxation, creating a refined yet inviting retreat within an urban context.

Design Concept :
The design unfolds as a sequence of interconnected zones, each offering a distinct spatial experience while maintaining overall continuity. A covered veranda, an elevated deck, and open landscaped areas are carefully composed to create a rhythm of enclosure and openness.
This layered planning allows the space to adapt to different uses—ranging from quiet, intimate moments to social gatherings—while maintaining a cohesive architectural language.
Architectural Detailing & materials:
Key architectural elements define the identity of the space. The covered veranda features a coffered ceiling that adds depth and structure, while a sculptural feature wall inspired by traditional motifs introduces a sense of cultural reference within a contemporary framework.
An elevated deck supports a lightweight pergola structure, providing shade and spatial definition without compromising openness. Together, these elements create a balanced composition of form, texture, and scale.
Material & Landscape Experience:
A palette of natural materials enhances the tactile quality of the space. Stone flooring, warm wood finishes, and soft landscaping work together to create a grounded and inviting environment.
The integration of curated plantation introduces greenery and seasonal variation, softening the architectural edges and reinforcing the connection to nature.
The design incorporates sensory elements that elevate the experience of the space. A water feature introduces movement and sound, creating a calming backdrop for everyday use.
Lighting is subtly integrated to enhance evening ambience, while the combination of textures and natural elements contributes to a multi-sensory environment that feels both relaxed and refined.
